Having appeared in the reality soap drama The Hills, when MTV wanted a star to base the spin off series The City on, Whitney Port was the companies natural choice.
Not particularly wrapped up in herself like others in The Hills, Whitney Port retains a sense of ‘normalness’ in an industry where ego’s abound, endearing her to the normal folk who make up the shows audience.
Port makes no excuses for making the most of her roles in The Hills and The City, and has utilised the exposure and opportunities that have come her way to become a fashion designer, launching her own clothing line last year.
Just as well as The City is compulsive viewing for the fashionistas across the globe and focuses mainly on the central character , Whitney Port.
As the central character Port’s life is followed at work, play and rest for three or four days of each week. The show is unscripted although each day is well planned by the producers before each day of shooting begins.
Surprisingly the stars of the show have to do their own hair and make up and do not receive a clothing allowance for the show. The latter is made up for with gifts form design houses since the series has made them into celebrities.
