It is five years since the original concept of Pop Idol was replaced on our tv screens by The X Factor and such is the phenomenal success of the present format that over 11 million viewers tune in each week to share the trials and tribulations of the participants, as well as the acid comments of Simon Cowell and the panel of judges.
The X Factor, like it or not, has consistently been the number one entertainment show on tv over the years, seemingly filling the whole of the Saturday evening prime time slot.
As part of the prize for reaching the finals of X Factor, finalists are invited to take part in an extensive ‘live’ UK Arena tour. The success of the tv show ensures that tickets for The X Factor Live Tour sell out fast.
The as yet unknown winners from the current series will of course record the obligatory Christmas single, ensuring a number one single, before embarking on the The X Factor Live Tour 2010. The UK Arena Tour kicks off in Liverpool on the 16th February and winds up at London’s O2 Arena on 20th March.
Most of the weekend concerts have the option of a matinee performance during the afternoon, followed by a later evening show making for an ideal day out for families of all ages.
The 2009 tour included performances from 2008 series finalists Diane Vickers, Laura White, JLS, Ruth Lorenzo, Eoghan Quigg and of course the winner Alexandra Burke, whose single Halleluja broke all records by selling over 105,000 copies in just 24 hours. The song went on to sell over 1 million copies making Burke the first British female solo artists to sell 1 million copies of a single in the UK.
The X Factor Live Tour is one of several TV based shows that can be seen in UK theatres over the coming months, others include Britains Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing.
