Pushing Daisies - ITV1, Saturday, 9pm
I thought I would give this new show a watch just to see how Anna Friel’s American accent compares to Michelle Ryan’s and I have to say I found it quite enjoyable (the show that is!)
The vividly coloured visual style of the show put me in mind of The Wizard of Oz - and of course we have an updated version of that coming to our TV’s soon - and added to it’s ‘fairy tale for grown-ups’ quality.
Pushing Daisies was originally intended as a full 22 episode season but ended up being cut to 9 as another casualty of the Writers Guild of America strike, although that suits me fine as it is hard to commit to a series that lasts too long - unless it is Lost or Heroes, of course!
I don’t expect it to keep me on the edge of my seat as far as story lines go, but it’s a pleasant way to spend a Saturday evening if you are not a fan of reality/talent shows.
