With an alarming increase in crimes committed by children across the world, Crime & Investigation gives an exclusive insight into the unlawful acts that shocked not just America, but the UK too.

Each Sunday Killer Kids examines delinquency and wrong doings by children and society’s attitude towards them. Crimes are surging worldwide with shootings and juvenile behaviour all becoming more frequent among children. Killer Kids aims to find out why there is this rise in antisocial behaviour and what leads children to kill.

The series starts with America’s original school shooting carried out by sixteen year old Brenda Spencer and inspiration behind the number one hit for Boomtown Rats, I Don’t Like Mondays.

Spencer took the Christmas present her father had given her, a .22 calibre gun, and took aim at the school playground accross the road from her home. She killed two men and injured eight children and a police officer.

When she was later asked why she did it she replied, “I just did it for the fun of it. I don’t like Mondays.”

Many blame her father for giving her the gun, but Killer Kids aims to dig deeper to find the root cause behind Spencer’s actions on that fateful day and asks if she was really the victim in all this?

The series also reveals a ‘day in the life of a young inmate’ in a juvenile detention facility, perhaps embodying the philosophy of “adult crime, adult time”.  Closer to home, the gang lifestyle of the urban hoods of South London are highlighted and why young women are attracted to join gangs in the first place.

Killer Kids has exclusive access to Brooke Kinsella (most commonly known for her role in Eastenders) as she prepares for the trial of three men accused of stabbing her sixteen year-old brother to death. It follows Brooke on a personal journey to the heart of Britain’s knife crime culture, just one of many teenagers who became a target in Britain’s biggest social problem.

Killer Kids – UK Premiere only on Crime & Investigation Network Sunday 2nd May – 30th May at 9pm
