Heroes - Volume 2, ‘Powerless’
For a finale this was a little bit disappointing, the series just felt like it had been chopped in half - which evidently it had been due to the writers strike! Adam, who was this huge threat and had escaped death many times - was just whisked away by Hiro and dumped in a coffin, buried underground. Now couldn’t he have easily done that before? (And isn’t it very similar to what happened to Captain Jack in Torchwood!)
It seems that episodes 13 and 14 were already in production when the Writers Guild struck, but episode 11 was able to be rewritten into a more conclusive ending so that was used! This means we sadly missed the virus story getting played out and presumably Peter eventually rescuing Kaitlin from the future?
I did love the “I’m back” ending from Sylar though, I guess Volume 3 will return to having him as the central bad guy again - hopefully that won’t make it too predictable.
One of the interesting aspects of this series was seeing the heroes gain control of their powers, Peter striding down the corridor, blasting anyone or thing in his path was awesome. Nathan getting shot was a surprise but now we know they can bring people back to life, it wasn’t exactly a tearjerker - same with Nikki. Who else thinks it was HRG who shot Nathan?
Tim Kring has said that rather than being a conclusive episode, this was more of a build-up for Volume 3- ‘Villains’ - which he promises will ‘hit the ground running’ and is going to be bigger and better than ever - hurrah!! And the best thing is - we only have to wait until the Autumn for it….
