Desperate Housewives - Series 4, Channel 4, Wednesday 10pm
So it’s welcome back to those Desperate Housewives - the new series series started with the usual dose of deceitful and manipulative behaviour.
Edie using emotional bribery to prevent Carlos from running away with Gaby, Bree continuing to cover her teenage daughter’s pregnancy by pretending it’s her own and Lynette masking the effects of chemo with a wig and surreptitious vomiting into other peoples handbags!
How unrealistic and unrepresentative of ‘normal housewives’ everyday life I hear you say, but last nights show featured one topic that we (women) can all relate to - neurotic Susan’s visit to the gynecologist - who turned out to be her new neighbour!
I had to both laugh and cringe with embarrassment for her as I recalled the time I went for my regular check-up only to discover the nurse was one of the mums I see at the school gate everyday!
Did anyone else find a topic to relate to on last night’s show, such as ‘How can I express anger, surprise, sadness when my forehead is heavily botoxed?’ Or maybe ‘Where can I find a size zero dress that is suitable for an over 40 year old?’
