Unbelievably the family labelled as Britain’s laziest and fattest return to our screens for a second helping of Lorraine Kelly’s Next Big Fat Challenge at the end of August.

The Chawners came to prominence when daughter Emma appeared in the X Factor auditions and was so awful she was sent packing by Simon Cowell and the other judges, only to be confronted by the head of the family who considered that the experts had no idea when it came to spotting talent.

Luckily I managed to miss the first series as I will again for the new series, it is hard to imagine why anybody would be vaguely interested in seeing a TV company throw money at a family like the Chawners.

Lorraine Kelly has her work cut out in her second attempt at getting this family off their backsides and into work, if you are interested enough the new series premieres on August 24th at 8pm on the Bio Channel.

Not particularly wrapped up in herself like others in The Hills, Whitney Port retains a sense of ‘normalness’ in an industry where ego’s abound, endearing her to the normal folk who make up the shows audience.

Port makes no excuses for making the most of her roles in The Hills and The City, and has utilised the exposure and opportunities that have come her way to become a fashion designer, launching her own clothing line last year.

Just as well as The City is compulsive viewing for the fashionistas across the globe and focuses mainly on the central character , Whitney Port.

As the central character Port’s life is followed at work, play and rest for three or four days of each week. The show is unscripted although each day is well planned by the producers before each day of shooting begins.

Surprisingly the stars of the show have to do their own hair and make up and do not receive a clothing allowance for the show. The latter is made up for with gifts form design houses since the series has made them into celebrities.

Kristin, Aubrin, Brody

MTV’s cult reality soap show The Hills continues with it’s final series ever, getting grittier and more ‘real’ than ever before.

Kristin’s non stop partying has her friends concerned that she may be using cocaine and the girls decide to confront her once and for all, but the signs are ominous for the party animal who is out all night living the high life.

Heidi has to live with the consequences of her families displeasure over her plastic surgery. The naturally pretty Heidi appears to have had absolutely everything cosmetically enhanced boasting of having ten plastic surgery treatments in one day.

Meanwhile the marriage made in heaven between Heidi and Spencer, is on the rails. ‘Speidi’ as the couple are known, announced in the press that they have split, but many including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton believe it is no more than a publicity stunt.

And still the question on everyone’s lips is…will the main character Lauren return for the final episode.

The final series of The Hills is currently showing on MTV on Sundays at 9pm.

For the past four years The Hills has provided MTV with a flagship series that has captured a huge share of the cable market, appealing mainly to the female 12 to 34 year old audience.

The Hills has single handedly revolutionised reality TV during this time, becoming something of a pop culture phenomenon along the way.

Now in its sixth and final series, MTV will redefine how to end such a successful venture, promising that the show will conclude like no other show before.

The powers thatbe are obviously sworn to secrecy over the ending of the show and it is impossible to get anybody who knows anything to spill the beans!

How will it end?  What will be revealed?  Who will return?  How will they say goodbye?  To find the answers to these questions you had best watch the remainder of the series on MTV on Tuesday’s at 10pm.

The President of Programming at MTV Tony DiSanto thanks the fans for watching but gives little else away when he says;

We owe it to those fans, the cast and the show to go out on a high note. And this season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion and an organic culmination of this saga.”

Fans who simply cannot get enough of The Hills will be pleased to learn that The Hills: Season Five, Part Two is now available on DVD featuring every headline-making scene from all 10 dramatic episodes and is filled with deleted scenes, remixed versions of the after shows and much more.

Heidi Montag in final season of The Hills

It is the beginning of the end for fans of MTV’s The Hills, as the sixth and final series starts in the UK on May 30th. The twelve part sixth series promises to conclude like no show before!

It is time to say goodbye to the familiar faces, everybody’s favourite couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, girl about town Kristin Cavallari and the boys Brodie Jenner and Justin Bobby.

There is bound to be plenty of explosive drama as the first installment gets off to an emotional start. Heidi heads home to show her family her post surgery look, while Kristin appears to be taking drugs as her all night partying starts to worry Audrina, Lo and Stephanie.

In a double reality drama billing The Hills will be followed by the brand new series of The City which is premiering in the UK on the same night.

Last season’s finale of The City saw Kelly convincing Whitney to take a risk and show her line at New York Fashion Week. As Season two begins, Whitney has only a week to prepare for the show. But will she be able to get it all organised in time? Tune in to see Whitney juggle friends, fashion and boyfriends.

The drama begins on Sunday 30 May as The Hills: Final Season premieres at 9pm followed by the brand new series of The City at 9:30pm on MTV.

Jersey Shore - MTV

For all of you out there who like to watch those trashy reality shows then this one is for you  ‘Jersey Shore’, which begins tonight, Sunday 21st March at 9pm.

A group of Italian-Americans are put-up in a house for a month, supposedly to work at a T-Shirt store and let their hair down on there time off.

In reality they are a bunch of infuriating, loud Italian-Americans that are so far up their own backsides you hate them before the programme even gets going.  The over-muscled boys spend more time in the bathroom than the girls, primping and preening while the girls compete over who can wear the outfit with the smallest amount of material.

They will have you cringing in your seat from day one as they lose any inhibitions they had before the booze hits their bloodstream.  Take a look for yourself but I can’t imagine anyone would really want to sit back and watch this outrageous crap unless of cause they themselves are a guido or guidette!

Snooki, JWoww, Vinny, Angelina, Sammi, Pauly D, Ronnie and The Situation may not be names that you have heard of right now, but they soon will be! These eight self-confessed ‘Guido’ and ‘Guidettes’ (slang term for Italian-Americans) are the stars of MTV’s latest reality series Jersey Shore and they promise to serve up some outrageously entertaining exploits during their summer living it up by the beach in New Jersey, NY.

Get ready to learn a whole new language as the Jersey Shore gang hit the UK having already taken America by storm and already include celeb’s Ashton Kutcher, Kate Perry, Leonardo Di Caprio and Lindsay Lohan among their ever growing legion of fans.

As an introduction to the series, here is some background on the shows stars:

Meet 21 year-old Nicole “Snooki”, a self-proclaimed ‘guidette’ whose big hair, revealing dresses and trashy talk mark her out from the other hopefuls.

Snooki is joined by Angelina, who if she has something on her mind, it’ll be out of her mouth before you know it. She always has something to say and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. The question is, how long will her housemates put up with it?

Jenni AKA “J-WOWW!” may have a boyfriend, but down at the Jersey Shore all bets are off. Impulsive and spontaneous, Jenni is a party girl with zero self control.

Musclebound hunk Mike “The Situation” may have a sensitive side, but he has plenty of game to go with it. He knows what he wants from his summer at the Jersey Shore and is not going to let anything stop him from getting it – even his roommates. The way he sees it, he has ‘the situation’ under control.

Pauly D is Rhode Island’s most well known DJ and keeps a tanning bed in his house. He orders gel by the case-load and does his hair twice a day – once in the morning and once again before hitting the town. For Pauly D, cleanliness is close to godliness, so he is not sure how he’s going to handle living with roommates.

Ronnie might find himself in a brawl or two, but he is a lover who just wants to have a good time. He comes into the house with one rule: Don’t fall in love at the Jersey Shore. But as the summer goes on, he finds rules are meant to be broken.

Sammi “Sweetheart” has been a serial dater all her life, but she’s now single and loves every minute of it. Her friends call her a sweetheart, but when it comes to guys she is a heartbreaker. Just ask Mike and Ronnie…

Last but not least, Vinny is a self-confessed mama’s boy and natural entertainer. He knows how to get a laugh from everyone he meets. Having just turned 21, Vinny has been waiting for this summer his whole life and is ready for a wild time with no boundaries.

Jersey Shore starts in the UK on Sunday March 21st at 9pm on MTV.

The new judges comprise stylist Grace Woodward, award-winning designer Julien MacDonald OBE and male model Charlie Speed.

The winning model will receive the Britain’s Top Model title, along with a contract with Models 1, a campaign with Revlon and a cover spread with Company.

The latest series of Model claims to be bigger and better than ever before, and the new hosts have been proclaiming their excitement in working on the project.

“I am honored and excited to be chosen as a judge on Britain’s Next Top Model,” said MacDonald. “I hope my passion and experience within the industry can help create a show that is both realistic and fun, but more importantly, find the new face that can grace our catwalks.”

Julien Macdonald has been a central figure in clothes for much of the past decade, and his designs have been worn by celebrities including Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton.

He has worked at Head Designer of Knitwear at Chanel, and as Creative director of Givenchy. He began his own label in 2004, and was awarded with the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006 for his contributions to the fashion industry.

Grace Woodward was awarded ‘Fashion Stylist of the Year’ in 2009 by the British Fashion Council, is a contributing editorial stylist for Harper’s Bazaar, Nylon and The Sunday Times Style, and has sculpted editorial styles for stars that include Pharrel Williams and Duffy and Florence to name a few. Fashion and designer clothes will always be carefully sculpted for the stars.

Speed reached stardom at the age of 17 after appearing in a Calvin Klein advert with Kate Moss.

Macpherson is clearly the biggest name among the hosts, and the combined line-up is sure to draw millions of viewers across the globe.

A new Reality TV show is coming to our screens to be called ‘Celebrity Quitters’ where celebrities will quit smoking over the course of five shows, how exciting does that sound!

The programme will include Chloe Madeley , 22, the daughter of Richard & Judy, who was earlier this year given a driving ban for being almost twice over the drink driving limit after hitting a parked car.

Paul Danan,  21, the former Hollyoaks actor who in June 2008 was involved in a row with organisers at a beauty contest for being drunk and rude to the contestants with the police being called, although Danan denies it happened.

John Burton Race, the bankrupt restaurateur who just last week was banned from driving for 14 months when he failed to give a breath test after being stopped by police before wrestling them to the ground.  Do you see a bit of a pattern following here, and they are all there to give up smoking!

Also in the series is the Birds Of A Feather actress Linda Robson, who has just started smoking again after giving-up for 17-years and the  final contestant, the psychic Derek Acorah, who is said to smoke between 40-50 cigarettes a day, well you’d have thought he could see whats going to happen to him in the future!

The new programme is due to begin on the 18th January on Five and will run for two-weeks, showing the contestants all the background on what smoking is doing to them before they must decide to quit for good or carry on the challenge, can’t wait!

Ice Road Truckers

Ice Road Truckers follows a group of elite truckers who head to Alaska, 250 miles of the Arctic Circle, who will face 100 foot cliffs, hairpin bends, avalanches and minus 70 degree temperatures.

With less than three months to shuttle critical supplies to the oil camps of Alaska’s North Slope, drivers are pushed to their limits. These are ice roads of a different breed: The truckers will face 400-plus-mile journeys fraught with harrowing danger–steep mountain ice, frozen tundra and the treacherous ice roads of the Arctic Ocean. It is man and his machine vs. nature and the wildest, roller coaster of an ice road in the world. Only the strong and lucky will survive. Hundreds of talented truckers have lost their lives trying to navigate this route, where one literally never knows what lies around the bend–from unexpected weather to dangerous whiteouts to treacherous terrain.

This series however, there is a new driver who is more than a match for any of the men, the gorgeous Lisa Kelly.  Lisa has been driving big rigs for about six-years and admits that she gets a kick out-of seeing people to a double take when she slides out of her huge Kenworth W900 tractor-trailer.

Forming part of History’s ‘Live on the Edge’ season, the 13 part series starts on September 10th at 9pm on HISTORY and HISTORY HD and continues every Thursday.
