New Crime Drama - Body of Proof

There is a new nine part crime drama series starting on UKTV’s Alibi (Sky 132, Virgin Media 130) on Tuesday 19th July at 9pm.

The hit US crime drama Body of Proof stars Dana Delany (Desperate Housewives) as Dr Megan Hunt and Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager) as Dr Hunt’s sidekick, Kate Murphey.

UKTV have already begun promoting the show via Facebook and YouTube.

The TV show will feature star celebrities including the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Noel Fielding and David Haye as Dynamo shows off his amazing talents as an exciting, vibrant magician.

It looks like this is well worth a watch as it includes some  of the best close up magic and stunts you may have ever seen.

Melanie Sykes hosts this new and exclusive to Bio makeover show which aims to bring some glamour and glitz to the school gates by spending some time sprucing up Britain’s mums.

With two boys of her own, Mel is only too aware that it is not easy looking your best when chasing round after the kids and she will be on hand to take the glamour squad of beauty experts on a tour of the UK in an attempt to turn the playground into a catwalk.

Led by hairdressing legend Nicky Clarke, the experts will surprise ‘mums in need’ at the school gates before whisking them off for a day of pampering.

They will then transform the mums whole look in time for returning to collect the kids from school, while turning a few heads at the school gates. With no idea that they’ve been nominated, the mums are in for the treat of a lifetime!

Ice Road Truckers

Facing perhaps the toughest season yet, the Ice Road Truckers are back on History this month to face what could be the ultimate challenge of their driving skills.

Veterans of the frozen North, drivers Rick Yemm, Alex Debogorski, Lisa Kelly and newcomer, Dave Redmon have traveled a long way from home and way out of their comfort zones to face the ultimate test.

In a change of scenery from the oil rich plains of North America and Canada, the truckers take to the treacherous mountain passes of India’s most dangerous roads in a bid to deliver their cargo.

Climbing the jagged peaks and speeding down the sheer slopes of the Himalayas, they’ll have more to worry about than on what side of the road they should be driving. Racing ahead in temperatures that can threaten to melt tires one moment and freeze the road beneath them the next, they’ll have to fight hard to stay calm and in control.

Starting on the narrow, rocky roads that wind away from Delhi before climbing to a construction site precariously perched between the mountains, Alex’s iron will is tested as he battles to hold his rig together in the harshest conditions he’s ever experienced. Meanwhile Rick, Lisa and Dave fight hard to speed on through the unfamiliar twists and turns, knowing any mistake could be fatal.

Its edge of the seat stuff again for the viewers and brown trouser stuff for the drivers, who attempt to make it through another season without really knowing what to expect in a new country where people’s lives are depending on their  vital cargo.

Based on the book by Sara Shepard, Pretty Little Liars begins a 22 part series on Viva tonight, Thursday October 21st.

Airing as part of British Crime Month, Peter Tobin is the first of many documentaries in the Murderous Mondays series which looks at some of Britain’s most violent criminals and the lives they destroyed.

With Tobin now behind bars, but remaining silent about his hideous crimes, CI is on a mission to find out the true story behind this infamous British serial killer.

The Crime & Investigation (CI) Network exclusive delves into the life of Peter Tobin, the infamous Scottish sex offender and convicted murderer. CI takes a look at his violent past and offers a unique insight into the mind and motivation of a true psychopath.

This October, CI piece together his long history of suspected killings and hear from the top criminal investigators and psychologists as well as the victims of his heinous crimes including his ex-wife.

Combining hard-hitting testimonies, this compelling programme features dramatic re-enactments and hopes to gain a better understanding of Tobin, attempting to uncover how this “charming psychopath” avoided discovery and evaded capture for much of his life. Drawing on over four decades of evidence, Detective David Swindle formed Operation Anagram, working hard to keep the monster behind bars after an incredible 14,000 separate lines of inquiry are still outstanding.

The couple live in Steve’s constantly messy squalor of a flat, where they are most content doing nothing other than eating, drinking and having sex.

Their cosy insular world of bickering wit and sarcasm is only interrupted by the invasion of their privacy from neighbours and friends who they do their best to discourage from visiting.

Him & Her is a realistic latter day anti romantic comedy that while not producing belly laughs is a constant source of amusement. Both characters share wit and charm in equal measures, with each able to deliver the most stinging remark but unable to penetrate the thick skin of their partner.

Written by Stefan Golaszewski, Him & Her is an anti-romantic comedy. It lifts the lid on love as it really is – warts and all with farts, bickering and toast.

The first episode of Him & Her is available to watch in full on the BBC Three website and well recommended.

In episode two of the series Him & Her which is broadcast on BBC Three tonight at 10.30pm, it is Steve’s birthday and everyone wants to go out and get plastered – except Steve. He’s ill in bed. Or at least he tells his mum and everyone else he is. When Becky, Laura, Shelly and Paul can’t persuade him to go out and celebrate, Steve stays in and – with a little help from Dan – makes very good use of his presents.

Sadly tucked away on the Showcase channel, The Source will broadcast from 12th September to 30th October (video heats Sunday to Friday 9pm and results show 9pm Saturday). The Source will feature 150 acts in all. Those receiving the most votes from the video heats will be featured on the weekly Saturday show (9pm) where they will compete to secure their place in the final (30th October), which will offer them the chance of winning £10,000 and record deal which will split profits 50:50 between the artst and the record company.

The Source is designed to showcase talented, but unsigned acts who write and perform their own music.

Peter Hook’s partners in the project also include Peter Gabriel’s free music site www.we7.com  and Aaron Mellor, MD of Tokyo Industries, co-owner with Peter Hook of FAC251 The Factory club in Manchester, where the Saturday show will be filmed.

Commenting on the launch of the new talent show, Hook said:

“Some people might say why am I supporting this. Yes it is another TV talent show but it’s a TV talent show for performers and audiences who really care about music.  The Source is here to give unsigned artists the vital exposure they need, those other talent shows are bullshit, they’re just made for TV not for the music, this is real, it’s irreverent and different.”

The Source has been created by people who really care about music; Manchester-based Iain May and Ben Martin, who created the show as a co-operative. They say it’s time for new original talent to gain the TV exposure it deserves:

“Recent phenomena such as the ‘Save BBC6 Music’ campaign back up what we’ve long known: that something must change. New music should be supported and nurtured. Exploitation and corporate control are out of touch with what people want,” says Iain May. “We want the public to make the decisions, free from corporate control or editing for ratings.”

Unlike other talent shows, The Source embraces ‘old school’ craftsmanship and skill in music, but, as it gives unsigned bands a much-needed platform for mainstream exposure, it will leverage the new music-biz orthodoxy of ‘do it yourself’ promotion via digital media and TV.

The contest opened in August to unsigned artists and bands of any genre. Entrants initially created a profile on www.bethesource.tv, uploading their own amateur music videos; music-lovers then voted online for their favourite acts. The top 150 acts, as voted for online, are going on to appear on the television show. Over 16000 people have already voted to date.
