It’s that time of year again...and I’m not talking Christmas here, it’s time to return to the jungle for I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!,

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, ITV1, 9pm

It’s that time of year again…and I’m not talking Christmas here, it’s time to return to the jungle for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, which started last Sunday 9pm on ITV1 along with its support show, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Now! following on ITV2 at 10.30pm.

This year’s ‘celebrity’ cast has the mix of sports personalities, soap stars, glamour models and trouble, in the form of Freddie Starr, who’s love of unusual gastronomy is well documented! He should have no problem tucking into genitalia and local wildlife….oh wait, he did!!! Poor Freddie was struck down by a severe allergic to the disgusting food he tucked into without so much as a raised eyebrow after being voted to do the Greasy Spoon Bushtucker Trial against Mark Wright, who hilariously retched, gagged, chocked and moaned his way through every mouthful!! I’m not sure he should be given respect for carrying on eating the meal worms, mice tails, pigs anus etc despite it being obvious Freddie was going to be unbeatable or if he really is just a bit thick…in a very good looking way.

Unfortunately it’s now been decided that Freddie won’t be returning to the jungle, which is a shame because he was already starting to clash horns with ‘alpha male’ of the camp, Stephanie Powers. It didn’t help when he appeared to have no idea how to retrieve the stars from a box of muck in the celebs first challenge, which meant his team got a dunking in fish guts while the other side sailed through with hardly a squeal!

The other contestants, American actress Stephanie Powers, champion jockey Willie Carson OBE, Emmerdale actress Lorraine Chase, TOWIE star Mark Wright, Jessica-Jane Clement (I’ve no idea either), Dougie Poynter from McFly, former world champion javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread OBE, Anthony Cotton off Corrie and Crissy Rock…that annoying one from Benidorm will be joined by DJ and TV presenter, Pat Sharp and 80’s singer Sinitta this week. Hopefully Sinitta won’t be as irritating as she appears to be during her token appearances on the X Factor…but I won’t hold my breath! It looks like Jessie-Jane will now have some stiff competition in the trying-to-outshine-Mylene-Klass-in-a-bikini daily event. Although stick a couple of cheap implants on Lorraine Chase and I’m sure she would do just as well, she’s looking pretty amazing for 60!

Ant and Dec are, of course, hosting the ITV1 show, while over on ITV2 we’re getting the lowdown from Joe Swash and Russell Kane, who are joined this year by newcomer, MTV Europe presenter, Laura Whitmore.

FM is a great new TV comedy for ITV2 starting Wednesday 25th February.

FM is set in a hip, cool radio station and a radio show with two sad, pathetic deejays, played by Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd, Under The Blue Sky) and Kevin Bishop (The Kevin Bishop Show, Star Stories, Fat Pig). Nina Sosanya (Teachers, Casanova, Love’s Labours Lost) plays the radio show’s producer.

FM is a very amusing, brand new comedy series for ITV2 written by Oliver Lansley and Ian Curtis.

Show host Lindsay Carol (O’Dowd) bumbles his way through each show with a mixture of cutting edge tunes and stories of his totally misguided personal life. Sharp and witty on-air, off-air he’s all at sea in the world of hip bands and celebrity and constantly upstaged by fellow radio host and cool urban DJ, Topher Kiepher (O-T Fagbenle).

Lindsay Carol’s co-host, Dom Cox (Kevin Bishop) manages to piss off their music guests on a daily basis, usually through excessive partying, his tardy antics and his general inability to take his job seriously.

Each episode includes a live performance in the FM studio from the likes of The Charlatans, The Wombats, Guillemots, Ladyhawke, The Subways and Sway; as well as celebrity guest appearances from Justin Hawkins, Marianne Faithfull, Toyah Wilcox, Jamie Theakston, Konnie Huq and Tim Westwood.

The series follows the two dj’s and their producer as they attempt to pull together a daily show. They come face to face with demanding managers, pushy new bands, unreliable recording artists, Dom’s relentless partying and boy band past, Jane’s shambolic love life, as well as Lindsay’s constant failure to be cool or look hot in skinny jeans.

FM is very funny and will appeal to anyone who laughs out loud to The IT Crowd.

New Sci-fi Shows on TV

It was a sad goodbye to Charlie Boorman on Sunday as he finally reached his destination in Ireland to Sydney by Any Means. Great show but I did miss the banter he and Ewan usually share on their escapades.

Two new shows I am perservering with are the completely over-hyped Fringe on Sky 1, Sunday 9pm and Sanctuary on ITV4, Monday 9pm.

They are both the type of show I usually enjoy but I’m finding it very hard to warm to them. The formats are okay, if a little unoriginal, and the effects are good but the characters seem a little shallow.

Unfortunately for them the shows they are trying to emulate are just too excellent to match.

New Star Trek movie aside, I think Lost creator JJ Abram’s will find it very hard to repeat the success he has with the cult show.

With 2008 disappearing faster than our high street banks!….I’m eagerly awaiting news on the return of any of my favourite shows and it looks like the Sky 1 website has just the thing…photo’s of the new series of Torchwood currently being filmed in Cardiff. Click on the link to get your fix!

I love to watch it and wonder if any of the shenanigans the group get up to actually happen in this elite world – and then I compare it to my favourite comedy this year, The Inbetweener’s! How polar opposite can you get and unfortunately my youthful experiences definitely fall on the Inbetweener’s side!!

1hour may have been sufficient if it was crammed full of the actual music but as with most shows these days the makers think we will be more interested in Lauren Lavern’s pointless interviews with the acts or, even worse, the diary in the day of an Alan Partridge sound-a-likey!!

Glastonbury coverage may get away with these bits of fill-in fluff because they also have adequate air time to allow us to actually watch the bands but this unfortunately didn’t. Even with the headlining acts, Kaiser Chiefs on Friday and Sex Pistols on Saturday, we were only shown the first 2 songs of each set!

It’s the first major music festival in the UK of 2008 to be aired on UK tv, so let’s hope the weather stays sunny for those music lovers who have made the ferry crossing and will be camping outside this weekend.

For the rest of us, let’s get some beers in, turn up the speakers and enjoy the best of the three day event from the comfort of our own living room.

The Isle Of Wight Festival started way back in 1968. It has played to some of the biggest acts in music history including The Who, David Bowie, Bob Dylan ,and of course Jimi Hendrix, who tragically died in London of a drugs overdose shortly after playing his final gig at the festival in 1970.

This year’s Isle Of Wight music festival has an impressive line-up, so let’s hope ITV offers a good coverage. The headline acts are The Kaiser Chiefs, The Sex Pistols and The Police.

It will be one of the last chances fans will get to see The Police as they have already planned to call it a day after this years dates. Sting, Andy Summers & Stewart Copeland got back together in

The Police were formed by drummer Stewart Copeland in early 1977 and the band’s popualrity peaked with their 1983 album, Synchronicity, which reached number one in both the UK and the US and sold over 8,000,000 copies in the US, alone.

Here’s the complete line-up:

FRIDAY 13th June
Kaiser Chiefs

Who would you like to see?
I know I would love to be there on Saturday night to see Iggy & The Stooges, Ian Brown & The Sex Pistols. Yes, I would rather have seen The Stooges in 1970 & The Sex Pistols in 1976, but still would be good to see them play now.

Bionic Woman – ITV2, Tuesday 9pm
I’m sorry to see the end of this series although this episode was pretty dull for a finale – no Tom, no evil Bionic Woman!
The highlight for me was seeing Jamie and Rebeca watching Heroes on the hotel tv!
What superhero will they resurrect next?
