Global superstar Beyoncé stars in a one off special on ITV1 this Sunday at 9pm. ‘A Night With Beyoncé’, recorded at London’s Fountain Studios with host Steve Jones, sees the superstar perform some of her greatest and best known hits including ‘Best Thing I Never Had,’ which has dominated airwaves in the UK for the last six months, taken from her new number one album, “4.”

The exclusive performance was recorded in front of an audience of the singer’s biggest fans with Beyoncé engaging in an interview session with fans in this unique and spectacular show.

With over 75 million worldwide album sales as an artist, the sixteen-time Grammy winner is now one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Beyoncé has dominated the music charts this decade spending more weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and having more Top 5 hit records over the past 10 years than any other female artist. Her #1 singles include ‘Crazy In Love’, widely acknowledged as the best song of the last decade and ‘Single Ladies’, a worldwide smash with an iconic video to match.

Beyoncé has had ten top five singles in the UK as a solo artist. Her latest album, “4”, debuted at number one on both sides of the Atlantic when it was released last June. Beyoncé marked the release with a spectacular headline performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

The ITV special was commissioned by Acting Controller of Entertainment, ITV, Daniela Neumann who said, “Beyoncé is one of the biggest selling artists of today. She is a world-class performer who dazzles her audience with her energy and talent. We are thrilled to have this very special and exclusive entertainment event on ITV.”

The hour and a quarter long special has been made by Victory Television in co-production with Sony Music and will be broadcast on Sunday at 9pm.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, ITV1, 9pm

It’s that time of year again…and I’m not talking Christmas here, it’s time to return to the jungle for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, which started last Sunday 9pm on ITV1 along with its support show, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here Now! following on ITV2 at 10.30pm.

This year’s ‘celebrity’ cast has the mix of sports personalities, soap stars, glamour models and trouble, in the form of Freddie Starr, who’s love of unusual gastronomy is well documented! He should have no problem tucking into genitalia and local wildlife….oh wait, he did!!! Poor Freddie was struck down by a severe allergic to the disgusting food he tucked into without so much as a raised eyebrow after being voted to do the Greasy Spoon Bushtucker Trial against Mark Wright, who hilariously retched, gagged, chocked and moaned his way through every mouthful!! I’m not sure he should be given respect for carrying on eating the meal worms, mice tails, pigs anus etc despite it being obvious Freddie was going to be unbeatable or if he really is just a bit thick…in a very good looking way.

Unfortunately it’s now been decided that Freddie won’t be returning to the jungle, which is a shame because he was already starting to clash horns with ‘alpha male’ of the camp, Stephanie Powers. It didn’t help when he appeared to have no idea how to retrieve the stars from a box of muck in the celebs first challenge, which meant his team got a dunking in fish guts while the other side sailed through with hardly a squeal!

The other contestants, American actress Stephanie Powers, champion jockey Willie Carson OBE, Emmerdale actress Lorraine Chase, TOWIE star Mark Wright, Jessica-Jane Clement (I’ve no idea either), Dougie Poynter from McFly, former world champion javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread OBE, Anthony Cotton off Corrie and Crissy Rock…that annoying one from Benidorm will be joined by DJ and TV presenter, Pat Sharp and 80’s singer Sinitta this week. Hopefully Sinitta won’t be as irritating as she appears to be during her token appearances on the X Factor…but I won’t hold my breath! It looks like Jessie-Jane will now have some stiff competition in the trying-to-outshine-Mylene-Klass-in-a-bikini daily event. Although stick a couple of cheap implants on Lorraine Chase and I’m sure she would do just as well, she’s looking pretty amazing for 60!

Ant and Dec are, of course, hosting the ITV1 show, while over on ITV2 we’re getting the lowdown from Joe Swash and Russell Kane, who are joined this year by newcomer, MTV Europe presenter, Laura Whitmore.

I was fortunate enough to switch on the TV last night just in time to catch the excellent ITV documentary, When Playboys Ruled The World.

Having seen no previews of the documentary I was surprised and excited that to find that it featured two of my personal sporting heroes from the heady days of the seventies, Barry Sheene and James Hunt.

Formula One driver James Hunt, who won the 1976 world championship, and Barry Sheene, who won the motorcycle world championships in 1976 and 1977, were crowd favourites and national heroes.

In my view the last of the real sporting personalities, charming good looking and with an eye for the girls, both Hunt and Sheene led a lifestyle that would hardly be tolerated in modern day sport.

The excellent footage from those glorious years captured both sportsmen at the top of their game, both having mastered the ability to climb out of the cockpit or off the bike with a cigarette already lit, swigging champagne from the bottle, surrounded by attractive girls.

Aah those were the days.

Sheene’s wife Stephanie and Hunt’s brother David add a wonderful insight into these two world champions who

barry sheene

became close friends during their time at the top of their respective sports.

There are also interesting contributions from Max Mosley, Murray Walker and Stirling Moss, the latter claiming, “In my day when the race was done we went off and chased girls. Now they go and say thanks to Vodafone.” How true!

Max Mosley’s story of driving to a friends house with James Hunt summed up the World Champion driver perfectly, he recalled being at the house and three lines of white powder were put on the table. Hunt says to Mosely, you won’t want yours will you Max? and snorts two lines leaving the third for the friend!

Considering the sports that they participated in and the number of friends lost during racing at the time, it seems a miracle that these two survived it all and had the good sense to walk away from the sport when they did.

A brilliant programme that captured the essence of the seventies perfectly and also reminded me of what a great loss it was to lose two such love-able rogues so early in their lives to natural causes.

Look out for repeats of the documentary ‘When Playboys Ruled The World’ on ITV or check it out online or on Catch Up TV.

Twenty one year old Nicolo Festa who sung his version of Lady GaGa’s Lets Dance on the live broadcast of X Factor on Saturday night says that while he never expected to win, he thought he would last for longer than just one week.

In an exclusive interview with X Magazine Nicolo revealed the hurt at being sent home so early in the show;

“I felt humiliated and like I wanted to die, every second I was mortified. I wasn’t sad, I just wanted to disappear. I don’t like to feel embarrassed. I always thought I wasn’t going to win, but I never thought I would be the first to go.
Even though this show is quirky this year, at the end, it’s always the nation’s sweetheart who’s going to win, not the one who stands out, which is why I didn’t have high expectations.”

Italian born Nicolo added that even his mentor Simon Cowell was surprised and shocked at the decision, “He’s very annoyed about it. He said he didn’t expect it at all and that it happens. But he made it clear to me that he believed in me.”

Issue 5 of X Magazine is available to buy from outlets nationwide from Wednesday and features interviews with Louis Walsh, Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel. It also includes exclusive interviews with Robbie Williams and Charlotte Church.

The finale, which has been given the title ‘Respect’ will be followed by a one-hour special documentary called ‘Farewell The Bill’ outlining the shows history as well as taking a look behind the scenes as the cast and crew film their final acts.

Britain’s longest running police series began on 16th October 1984 and was originally intended as a one-off but was soon commissioned for a one-hour weekly slot. In 1988, the series was increased to three programmes a week before returning to a weekly one-hour episode ten-years later.

The final episode was filmed in June of this year and is due to be aired on August 31st at 9pm on ITV followed by the special documentary at 10.35pm.

It has now been announced that this will not take place as Ofcom does not investigate the outcome of programmes, their job is too consider complaints about flawed voting processes and the treatment of contestants, however a representative of Ofcom said that every complaint is considered.

It was only two-weeks ago that Simon Cowell stated that for his act Danyl Johnson to be one of the bottom two contestants when the twins were still in the competition was “a total joke”, before voting off Lucie Jones in favour of John and Edward. Is Mr Cowell playing a game of tactics, I think so! Who is more of a threat to his acts?

Simon Cowell could not hide his disbelief when his protege Danyl Johnson ended up in one of the two bottom contestants in Saturday’s show following the public vote, he called the incident ‘a total joke’ and added ‘I have never been so surprised in my life.’

Johnson and Louis Walsh’s girl group Miss Frank faced a ’sing off’ to decide who would leave and who would stay, but with Cowell and Walsh backing their own acts it was down to DanniiMinogue and Cheryl Cole to make the casting vote.

While Minogue decided to vote for Johnson, Cole could not face being Mrs Nasty and chose to abstain, leaving it up to the public vote to be counted, resulting in the win for prep school dance teacher Danyl Johnson.

After Johnson’s performance Cowell said: “I’ve never been so surprised in my life. If this is your last performance, I’ve never heard someone going out on such a high. I think it’s a joke that you’re in the position you’re in, a total joke.”

Walsh said of his act Miss Frank: “They’ve got an awful lot more to give, they were at their best last night and I love them.”

X Factor producers want Boyzone to appear on the show to perform a special tribute to Stephen Gately, says a report in The Mirror who say the programmes bosses are waiting to talk to the bands manager and X Factor judge Louis Walsh before going ahead.

A source allegedly told The Mirror ;

“Stephen was a very close friend of the ITV show. During a production meeting they were discussing ideas for guest performers. Boyzone were mentioned as an obvious choice. Everyone is painfully aware they need to be sensitive, so they have held back on a formal approach until they speak to Louis. But the huge outpouring of grief is hard to ignore. There have been a lot of messages asking the boys to do some kind of tribute to his life.”

The 33 yearold singer who was found dead at his luxury apartment in Majorca earlier this month, was apparently a ‘huge fan’ of the TV talent show and had once expressed a desire to perform on the programme with Boyzone.
