The way we watch television is changing dramatically. Internet-enabled television has brought buzzwords such as IPTV and Web TV into the national viewing consciousness and created a rapidly growing industry.

With a range of Internet TV stations for all sorts of niche product and services, PR, presenter, mum and VeggieVision TV founder Karin Ridgers is ecstatic to launch the new web TV station and technology in partnership with Life on Show TV. VeggieVision will be an online source of information and entertainment on healthy vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.

What is VeggieVision?
VeggieVision brings a passion for healthy and compassionate living and eating to Internet TV. With a range of mini-programmes available on demand, each playing for up to 10 minutes, VeggieVision combines entertainment with education, information about products, and a focus on cookery and celebrity.

VeggieVision is for anyone interested in healthy food, positive living and celebrities. The primary target audience is vegetarians, vegans, people who have food allergies or intolerances or who want to cut down, for example, on their cholesterol intake.

VeggieVision TV will also be a useful resource for people who have vegetarian friends or family members. It aims to inspire non-vegetarians to try vegetarian products and also show the people behind the companies who bring us exciting meat-free options.

When Karin Ridgers vegetarian lifestyle programme was rejected several years ago she decided to go it alone giving up a good banking career and launch an internet TV station promoting her passion of healthy, positive living. Despite humble beginnings VeggieVision TV has already attracted viewers and contributors from all over the world.

“There are no programmes that cater especially for the estimated 3 to 4 million vegetarians and vegans in the UK and VeggieVision TV would like to be the answer to this – and more.” Karin Ridgers says.

With such a large niche of the population not being catered for programme wise VeggieVision TV aims to cater for those who are interested in vegetarian cookery and healthy living.

According to the Office of National Statistics 18.3 million households in the UK (70 per cent) had Internet access in 2009. With around 5% of the population vegetarian and an increasing trend of meat reducers VeggieVision TV aims to cater for these people in particular.

The Internet Advertising Bureau reports the UK online adspend has risen 10% to nearly £2 billion in first half of 2010 and video advertising now appears on more than half of media plans, and is worth 3 per cent of the UK TV ad market.

Karin Ridgers went on to say:

“We have a fantastic American comedian to share with the viewers as well as cookery clips and celebrity interviews. The Vegetarian society in Japan have been in touch and would like to film for us too. We have a Hollywood actor who is based in Thailand who has made a super clip for our viewers and we can’t wait to show even more content too.”

VeggieVision TV channels currently include Cookery, Information, Entertainment World Vision and You TV. Karin is speaking to several schools that are interested in working with VeggieVision and is also keen to develop a music channel too.

Now working with Life on Show TV Karin is working flat out to make VeggieVision a sustainable business success and a portal that people will enjoy watching no matter what their dietary habits.

Philips Electronics sponsor the latest online only ‘romantic comedy’ Nigel and Victoria, an eight part series that launches today via the Nigel & Victoria YouTube page.

Starring Ben Willbond, the British comedian and actor who appeared in BBC 2’s Extras, The Thick Of It and Rev, alongside the Dutch celebrity Victoria Koblenko whose credits include Dead End, American Dreams and the horror movie Sl8n8.

Victoria plays the part of the sexy gadget crazy TV presenter who reviews new Philips products, Ben plays the part of Philips executive Nigel, a bumbling idiot when in the presence of Victoria.

The series opens with Nigel falling for Victoria on the set of her latest shoot. Nigel has never been on a shoot before and doesn’t really understand what’s going on. He’s nervous as hell and fancies Victoria like crazy. She doesn’t even notice him until he starts to assert his position. The increasing friction leads to a collision course with unexpected turns.

Nigel & Victoria – Boyfriend?

More a vehicle for brand awareness than anything else, there is not much evidence of the show being romantic or funny unless you are a fan of the overplayed bumbling adult male falling short in his attempt at conversing with an attractive girl.

There is a growing trend towards making this advertorial nonsense which is generally let down by a lack of good comedy writing and originality, and Nigel & Victoria falls short on both scores.

If it is your cup of tea, the first three episodes are launched today, Monday September 6th at 12 noon, with the next five episodes to be shown on Monday each week.

Brian Pern is an ageing rock star who once fronted the extremely successful prog-rock band Thotch who were both flamboyant and massive in the 1970’s.

These days he is more concerned about making video blogs expressing his personal interests and political views than he is about making music.

He is no longer the flamboyant character that led Thotch, he is solo, serious, bald and fat and would rather argue over whether gorillas should wear bullet proof vests to protect them from poachers than finish his latest album.

It is of course a spoof series featuring the Fast Shows Simon Day as Brian Pern and unsurprisingly the character has already attracted celebrity followers Peter Gabriel, Brian May and Dave Gilmour.

The series, simply called Brian Pern is an ITV studio production for BBC and is broadcast exclusively online. Brian Pern series 2 can be viewed at BBC comedy from Friday July 16th.

None of them are safe…!’

Kirill is an internet based sci-fi project launched by MSN. It follows the story of a fugitive desperately trying to deliver an urgent message. One huge problem…time is about to run out!

Each episode will take you off to other blogs and video sites to gather more information about the storyline…but that is as much as I can gather for the moment as the whole thing is purposely shrouded in suspence building secrecy.

Apparently Kirill is intended to be a prequel to a much bigger drama that Digital Studios are hoping to launch early next year.

This story is divided into a series of episodes – each one available to view online only.

You can start watching the first two episodes now.
