Being Victor is the story of Vinnie Dupe (Dean Smith; BBC1’s ‘Waterloo Road’) and his online alter-ago; blogger Victor Sage.The action packed drama series follows Vinnie and his mates as they struggle through teenage life in Scotland.

Content of the drama has been specially developed to tackle hard social and moral issues and to give teens a forum to stimulate thought, dialogue and debate.

The digital world of Being Victor began on 5th July, 10 weeks ahead of the first online transmission, with the first post of Victor’s Blog in character.

The 10-week build-up used social media tools to attract and engage followers in various digital spaces in order to build a pre-show fan base. Twitter feeds from the characters, links from Victor’s Blog to related content and MySpace pages of featured independent bands, have all helped to build the Being Victor community.

As well as raising issues that young people must deal with in their everyday life, anyone affected by storylines in the series can seek help and advice via the Being Victor hub, which will provide approved advice based on the episode topic and encourage open and frank discussion.

Being Victor is proud to promote home grown acting talent as well as using local businesses like Shed Media Scotland to commission ten independent bands to perform the soundtrack and take part in the storyline. The animations featured in the show are provided by students from Glasgow College of Art’s Digital Design Studio.

Kristin, Aubrin, Brody

MTV’s cult reality soap show The Hills continues with it’s final series ever, getting grittier and more ‘real’ than ever before.

Kristin’s non stop partying has her friends concerned that she may be using cocaine and the girls decide to confront her once and for all, but the signs are ominous for the party animal who is out all night living the high life.

Heidi has to live with the consequences of her families displeasure over her plastic surgery. The naturally pretty Heidi appears to have had absolutely everything cosmetically enhanced boasting of having ten plastic surgery treatments in one day.

Meanwhile the marriage made in heaven between Heidi and Spencer, is on the rails. ‘Speidi’ as the couple are known, announced in the press that they have split, but many including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton believe it is no more than a publicity stunt.

And still the question on everyone’s lips is…will the main character Lauren return for the final episode.

The final series of The Hills is currently showing on MTV on Sundays at 9pm.

‘True Blood – Music from the HBO Original Series‘ will be released on October 26th through Atlantic Records, featuring tracks from the first series of True Blood including the sultry theme tune Bad Things performed by Jace Everett.

The show which is in its second series in the US has only recently premiered in the UK, Channel 4 launched the first series on October 7th, and according the the Guardian is ‘destined to become ten times bigger than everything else on TV.’

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery, and humor, True Blood takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans to get their fix.

Set in a backwoods Louisiana town, the show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse ,played by Anna Paquin, who won an Oscar at the age of eleven for her role in The Piano and winner of a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Sookie, who can read minds, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton, played by British actor Stephen Moyer.

True Blood – Music from the HBO Original Series features songs performed by a wide-range of Louisiana natives, reflecting the series’ steamy backwoods setting of the American bible-belt where the liberal minded are thin on the ground.

The artists span Louisiana’s distinctive musical heritage, from three-time Grammy award winner Lucinda Williams, Slim Harpo, and Lee Dorsey to Allen Toussaint and the legendary Dr. John.  This eclectic soundtrack of country, rock and blues also includes Bleed 2 Feed, an exclusive new song written expressly for the series by Lafayette-based swamp rocker CC Adcock.

Filming of the new series of  Shameless starts this month with Laird taking the part of brothel owner Michelle. The character is expected to cause chaos on the Chatsworth estate as she attempts to lure the male characters into working as gigolos.

The Sun says that Jamie McGuire played by Aaron McCusker, will be the first of the regular Shameless characters to accept the offer from Michelle, with his brothers and friends tempted to try their luck later in the series.

Shameless is one of the most under rated series on UK tv, it’s comedy may appear a bit dark on the face of things but dig deeper and you will find a real gem. Can’t wait for the new series.

Five years ago he starred in the Quentin Tarrentino films Kill Bill Volume 1 and Kill Bill Volume 2 as Bill.  It was reported that Carradine was hoping it would resurrect his flailing career in the same way as Pulp Fiction had for John Travolta.  But the Kill Bill didn’t elevate him to the ‘A List’ though it did keep him in work until his untimely death.

But David Carradine is best known as Kwai Chung Caine in the 1970’s martial arts American TV show Kung Fu.  Possibly riding on the back of the cult of Bruce Lee, Kung Fu was the first American martial arts TV series.

I have very fond memories watching the series on a Saturday evening with my family as the nomad Caine would travel from town to town across America looking for food, shelter and work.; and though the most gentle of people, Caine would somehow always have to fight his way out of a situation and then leave town, using flashbacks as a the young Grasshopper learning his wisdom from his blind Taoist monk teacher..

Surprisingly, David Carradine left after only three series of Kung Fu between 1972-75, rightly stating the episodes were repeating themselves.

In 1975 he had a big screen success starring in the film Death Race 2000 and the following year received critical acclaim as Woody Guthire in Bound For Glory. But though he continued to act in films and on tv for the rest of his life, David Carradine was always remembered as ‘the bloke for Kung Fu’ which caused personal problems not helped by alcohol and drug abuse.

In 1986 he returned to the role for a TV film, Kung Fu: The Movie (which also starred Bruce Lee’s son, Brandon Lee) and again between 1993-97 in the spin-off series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

Carradine’s life was dogged by drug abuse.  Alcohol and LSD were his drugs of choice until recently, when apparently he had found inner peace through Zen Buddhism in much the same way as the character Cain.
