You would be forgiven for believing that the job of the police is done once a criminal is sentenced and put behind bars, but that is not necessarily the case. A crack squad of police allocated to the prison service are responsible for keeping inmates in order, out of trouble and under control.

Of course this is real life and things seldom go to plan, when 10,000 prisoners are crammed into one of the worlds toughest prisons tempers are bound to flare and this series on Crime & Investigation Network follows the work of the Prison Police in enforcing law and order inside the prison blocks.

Chosen for their interrogation skills, forensic expertise and ability to keep cool in life-threatening situations, The Squad must investigate riots, assaults, escapes, organised crime, drugs and even murder in the notorious Tennessee State Prison.

With nothing to lose, inmates are desperate to gain whatever power they can, often resorting to violence to get their way. When someone crosses the line, it’s up to The Squad to bring justice and restore order.

With a new case each week, the prison police’s skills will be tested to the limit. With gangs and criminals getting in the way on both sides of every investigation and lockdowns raising the pressure, they can’t trust anyone and must rely on their wits and experience to discover the truth.

Learn how they keep control of the most violent men in America on The Squad: Prison Police. The series starts on January 29th at 10pm on CI.

It is ten years since the news of the brutal and vicious death of South London schoolboy Damilola Taylor shocked the nation, the innocent ten year old was left to bleed to death by his attackers in a stairwell close to his home.

This account is presented by former PC Rav Wilding, one of the Metropolitan police officers who worked on the beat in Peckham at the time of the murder, this case was the most disturbing he had to deal with during his time in the force.

We follow Rav in this moving and very personal journey as he re-visits what happened from Damilola’s arrival in the UK, to the vicious attack, and the National movement against youth violence that grew out of his tragic death.

He asks what lessons have been learned from the death of this innocent ten year old – by the community, the police and the public. Rav speaks to Richard Taylor, Damilola’s father, in an exclusive interview about his son’s legacy and the good work that is being undertaken in his name.

For the first time, Richard talks about how the Home Office could have approached the case differently to ensure a conviction. Rav also meets MP Harriet Harman, who in a very open interview remembers when she first heard the news and the affect it had on her constituents in Peckham. Rav recalls the terrible events with news presenter Joyce Ohajah, who covered the case every day for months and discusses the impact a story like this can have.

Criminologist, Mark Wiliams-Thomas also discusses the investigation in-depth and points out where the police both succeeded and failed. Finally, Rav reflects on his own time working on the case and gives the viewer his own unique insight into one of the most shocking crimes of the past ten years.

It took six years and three trials to finally convict the two teenagers responsible for Damilola’s death and even then they were charged with manslaughter rather than murder.

Damilola: Death Of A Ten Year Old marking the tenth anniversary of this tragic event, will be broadcast on Crime & Investigation Channel at 10pm on Thursday November 25th

Throughout November Crime & Investigation Network will be telling the stories of the innocent women who were married to some of the most violent killers in the UK, tormented and exploited by their partners, CI asks why did these tortured women stay?

Hear the astonishing stories told by these women in their own words. Harrowing accounts of murder and marriage are intertwined with criminal detectives’ accounts and forensic scientists who are at the forefront of the painstaking police investigations.

In Beverley’s story we hear how husband Ronald Castree subjected her to years of torment and violent abuse before she finally escaped. Castree abducted eleven year old Lesley Molseed and just three days later she was found having been brutally murdered on the Yorkshire Moors. In one of Britain’s most notorious miscarriages of justice, an innocent man, Stefan Kiszko was found guilty of her murder and sentenced to life in prison while Castree was free to continue his reign of terror over his family.

In another episode CI tells the story of the violent nature and twisted past of killer Tony Jasinskyi, who would manipulate his wife to create dependency and exploitation.

He would then go on to commit brutal attacks on local women, leading to the death of fourteen year old Marion Crofts. Despite a major police investigation by Hampshire Constabulary, it would be a further twenty years before Jasinskyj would finally be charged.

Uncover the shocking, heart-breaking and terrifying stories of the women married to Britain’s most notorious killers on Crime & Investigation channel throughout November, every Thursday at 9pm.

Crime & Investigation Network (CI) continue their month long UK Crime theme with the latest installment of Murderous Mondays, which investigates the background into the murder of British schoolgirl Caroline Dickinson who was brutally attacked and murdered while on a school holiday in France.

Thirteen-year-old Caroline Dickinson was enjoying a school holiday in the quaint French town of Pleine-Fougères when she was brutally attacked and murdered in the hostel room she shared with friends. The case quickly fell apart as the authorities failed to produce results and had police all over Europe hunting for clues.

Frustrated by the French investigation, Caroline’s father launched his own appeal, gaining media coverage and appealing for help from further afield. It was thanks to him that the case was picked up by an American investigator with a hunch which set in motion a huge international manhunt.

Interviews and dramatic reconstructions help to piece together this dramatic and tragic story which ultimately led to a conviction finally bringing Caroline’s killer to justice.

The Caroline Dickinson Murder premieres on Crime & Investigation Network tonight, October 25th at 9pm

The second episode of Murderous Mondays on Crime & Investigation Network, this Monday at 9pm, asks what would lead such a perfect son to commit such a violent crime?

On the surface, Brian Blackwell was an intelligent, quiet and polite public school boy, a straight A student living in the quiet suburbs of Merseyside.

Shortly after Brian returned from a lavish holiday of a lifetime in the States, a neighbour found his parents brutally murdered in their home.

Brian Blackwell used his father’s credit cards to treat his girlfriend to a £30,000 holiday in the US where they enjoyed luxurious hotels, food and fine wines, building a fantasy life for himself, becoming further detached from reality and pulling his girlfriend into the delusion.

But the perfect facade quickly fell apart. Brian was willing to do anything to avoid detection and after reaching the point of no return, resorted to brutally killing both his parents.

With an underlying thirst for financial greed and power, he would stop anyone standing in his way, meaning that even his own parents were at risk. With personal accounts and interviews with Brian’s lawyers, teachers and journalists, CI discovers the hidden truth behind such a deceitful life.

Brian pleaded guilty to two accounts of manslaughter but is there more to his story?

Airing as part of British Crime Month, Peter Tobin is the first of many documentaries in the Murderous Mondays series which looks at some of Britain’s most violent criminals and the lives they destroyed.

With Tobin now behind bars, but remaining silent about his hideous crimes, CI is on a mission to find out the true story behind this infamous British serial killer.

The Crime & Investigation (CI) Network exclusive delves into the life of Peter Tobin, the infamous Scottish sex offender and convicted murderer. CI takes a look at his violent past and offers a unique insight into the mind and motivation of a true psychopath.

This October, CI piece together his long history of suspected killings and hear from the top criminal investigators and psychologists as well as the victims of his heinous crimes including his ex-wife.

Combining hard-hitting testimonies, this compelling programme features dramatic re-enactments and hopes to gain a better understanding of Tobin, attempting to uncover how this “charming psychopath” avoided discovery and evaded capture for much of his life. Drawing on over four decades of evidence, Detective David Swindle formed Operation Anagram, working hard to keep the monster behind bars after an incredible 14,000 separate lines of inquiry are still outstanding.

Murderous Mondays starts on October 4th at 9pm with the Peter Tobin story exclusive to Crime & Investigation Network as part of British Crime Month
