The World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) comes to Brands Hatch for its British leg this weekend with two British drivers vying for the title in the shape of Andy Priaulx and Rob Huff.

With the championship at the halfway stage, everything is still to play for and drivers will be heading to the Kent circuit aiming to score high.

Chevrolet’s Rob Huff is currently in fourth place on the leader board, 13 points behind three-time champion Andy Priaulx of BMW Team RBM. Now in his sixth WTCC season, 30-year-old Huff is seeking his first championship title and has reason to believe he is due a win at Brands Hatch. He says;

“Brands Hatch is obviously an event that’s very close to me. It’s the only UK round of the season and every year I have massive home support, 300 of my own friends and family will be at the race, as well as the friends and fans I’ve acquired over the years. Two years ago [at Brands] it was my 100th race and we led for 11 laps out of 12 before getting a puncture on the last lap. It was heartbreaking and probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to face in my career. We’ve had a second and a third place there over the last two years and I think it’s about time we won the home event!”

Joining Priaulx and Huff will be reigning British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington, Harry Vaulkhard and Tom Boardman, meaning it will be the strongest representation by national drivers at a home event all season.

On Sunday British Eurosport will broadcast both races exclusively LIVE, while the action will also be available in high definition on Eurosport HD.

Online, viewers can follow the racing LIVE on the Eurosport Player, where commentary-free video on demand is also available as a catch up service for those who missed it.

Former WTCC driver James Thompson will join Martin Haven for expert commentary and comments on British Eurosport.

It was last seen at the famous Silverstone circuit back in 1986, but MotoGP is back this weekend as the British round returns to one of the fastest tracks on the GP calendar.

The Northampton circuit has undergone some much needed remedial work in recent times and the new track layout promises more overtaking action than ever before.

British Eurosport will be on hand offering Live TV coverage of all practise and qualifying sessions from the British Grand Prix, along with full coverage of the 125 and Moto2 races.

The MotoGP live race will be broadcast one hour after the start of the race.

In the 125 competition Britain’s Bradley Smith will be looking for a win on home soil to boost his chances of claiming the 125 title. He is joined on the grid by fellow Brit Danny Webb, who will also be trying his best to impress the home crowd.

Scott Redding, who delighted home fans at Donington Park in 2008 when he made history becoming the youngest rider of all time to win a Grand Prix race, will this time contest the Moto2 race.

Last season the British Grand Prix from Donington Park threw up some surprising results, with Italian Andrea Dovizioso winning the MotoGP race ahead of Colin Edwards and Randy de Puniet, while eventual champion Valentino Rossi finished fifth with Brit James Toseland behind him in sixth. With Rossi ruled out through injury this time around, another shock winner could be on the cards.

One of the best known motorsport endurance races of all time, the Le Mans 24 Hours takes place this weekend and British Eurosport TV coverage of the event starts with free practise today (Wednesday June 9th) followed by live qualifying.

The Eurosport team will be on-site, bringing viewers closer to the action than ever before, with a LIVE studio on the start-finish line. Throughout the week at 6.30pm, daily guests from the world of motorsports will join the Eurosport presenters for the daily preview show “Le Mans 24 Minutes”, featuring the latest interviews, news and reports.

Heading up Eurosport’s commentary team will be Martin Haven who explains why British fans will have an added to incentive to tune in this year:

“The Aston Martin Racing team will fly the flag for Britain, giving chase at the front of the field, but there’s extra spice for the British fans in the form of Nigel Mansell, who will start the race for the first time in his career. He will be partnered in an all-British Ginetta-Zytek by his sons Greg and Leo.”

Former F1 champion Nigel Mansell and his sons will race for the team Beachdean Mansell and will contest the prestigious LMP1 category. Should the trio claim a victory, Mansell will join Graham Hill in the history books as the only other driver to secure the “Triple Crown of Motorsport” which involves winning either the Indianapolis 500 or the Indy/CART title plus either the Monaco Grand Prix or the F1 drivers’ title and the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Haven thinks the big battle will be between title holders Peugeot and Le Mans dominant force Audi:

“This year’s race is almost certain to boil down into a duel between the diesel cars of Audi and Peugeot. The German manufacturer has been the dominant force at Le Mans for the past decade, while the French cars won last year’s race after three years of trying. Audi will certainly be looking for revenge.”

Eurosport’s coverage will be more comprehensive than ever before, with a week-long build-up to the race, extensive LIVE action, high definition coverage and expert analysis and comment from our studio at La Sarthe.

There is plenty of motorsport action on TV this weekend, while the F1 championship is covered on terrestrial TV, the up and coming drivers serving their apprenticeship in the GP2 series are generally overlooked.

Many of today’s F1 drivers have made the step up from the ‘feeder’ series of GP2, in fact eleven of the current Formula 1 grid have previously raced in GP2.

Former GP2 champions include Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Timo Glock and last years winner Nico Hulkenberg who joined the Williams team for his debut F1 season.

In turn the newly formed GP3 is considered a ‘feeder’ for Gp2, and the new series launches this weekend for the first time ever at Barcelona.

For fans of the often more exciting two wheeled action, the fifth round of the 2010 World Superbike Championship comes from the Monza track in Italy.

Following two all British podiums in the last round at Assen, UK fans will not want to miss out on this one. British Eurosport coverage starts on Saturday with Superpole and live action from the Superstock 600 series.

Both World Superbike races will be broadcast from start to finish on Sunday. Joining Eurosport presenter Tony Carter in the WSB studio will be former rider James Haydon and current BSB series leader Tommy Hill, while commentary will come from Jack Burnicle and James Whitham.

There is a double treat in store for Motorcycle Racing fans this bank holiday weekend, with TV coverage of both the Moto GP and British Superbikes on British Eurosport.

The 2010 MotoGP Championship resumes this weekend at Jerez, following the postponed Japanese Grand Prix last weekend, while the British Superbike Championship travels north for the third round from Oulton Park in Cheshire.

British Superbike

British Eurosport 2 will broadcast exclusively LIVE from the domestic series on Monday from 12.30-6pm, with exclusive interviews and expert reaction from the Oulton Park paddocks.

In the British Superbikes, Tommy Hill tops the standings, 34 points clear of Australian Josh Brookes in second place. Following the retirement of former world and British champion Neil Hodgson last week and the absence of title contender James Ellison due to injuries sustained at the previous round in Thruxton, racing at Oulton Park looks set to be the most open of the season so far.

Moto GP

The 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP qualifying sessions will be LIVE on British Eurosport 2 on Saturday at 12pm, gearing fans up for race day from 9.45am on Sunday when the 125cc and Moto2 races will be broadcast LIVE with the MotoGP race showing in its entirety, delayed one hour from the start.

Seven-time champion Valentino Rossi leads the world going into the Jerez round, following his victory in the season-opener at Qatar, but the Italian is sure to face a fierce challenge from home favourites Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa.

Last season at Jerez in the 125cc championship, British rider Bradley Smith claimed his first GP win of the season and the title favourite will be hoping for more of the same this time around. He currently sits eighth in the championship. Fellow Brit Danny Webb will join Smith in the 125s while Scott Redding will contest the Moto2 race.
